Bob Moore’s Summary

I changed careers in the mid-eighties by earning my MSJ full-time at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. My first job in tv news returned me home to Pennsylvania -- at WPVI-TV, ABC 6 in Philadelphia.

At Philly's powerhouse Action News I learned major market tv news as an assignment editor and associate producer. I was promoted twice to weekend assignment editor and Jersey Shore bureau chief.

I returned to Chicago and helped launch Tribune Broadcasting Company's first 24-hour cable news channel, ChicagoLand Television News (CLTV) as the weekend assignment manager.

My desire to be on-air eventually won out -- and I rolled the career dice one more time. I landed at WIFR-TV, CBS23 in Rockford, Illinois. I became the station's first noon producer and reported for the 5 p.m. newscast. After a few weeks, I became a "one-man-band" reporter covering Rock County, Wisconsin.

WIFR-TV expanded and promoted me to news co-anchor who also handled weather duties. School never ends! After I landed the weekend weather anchor and reporter job at WLUK-TV, Fox11 in Green Bay -- I studied weather at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.

You never know who's watching. A Detroit news director had a weekend home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and for two years caught my work on Fox11. When she became president and general manager at WITI-TV, Fox 6 in Milwaukee -- I got a rare invitation to apply for the station's weekend morning weather anchor and week day reporter opening. I am blessed and now in my 11th year. I love my job, but I am ready for the next professional challenge.

Prior to changing careers -- I have management experience in employee relations, professional and college recruitment, training, program management, professional race relations, convention marketing, event planning and public affairs with The General Electric Company, a U.S. Department of Defense agency, The Chicago Urban League, Honeywell and CENTEL (now AT&T).
