Terry Penrod's Summary
Since 1988, Terry has been a real estate investor and in 2004, became a licensed real estate agent. Since then he has helped his clients purchase and sell over $35 million in real estate.
His community involvement involves being a longtime volunteer leader with the Human Rights Campaign (www.hrc.org). Mostly recently he served as a member of HRC’s National Board of Directors, also serving as a co-chair of the Public Policy Committee. During his tenure on HRC’s Board he also served on the Finance Committee helping to monitor the finances of the largest LGBT civil rights organization in the country. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Ohio Democratic Party and serves on the Political Action Committee (PAC) of Equality Ohio http://www.equalityohio.org.
Terry was a Barack Obama Delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was honored to witness the President sign the bill into law that overturned “Don’t Ask, Don't Tell” in December 2010 in Washington, DC. In 2009, he was invited to the White House to attend a reception commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.
His charitable work includes a partnership with Real Living Mortgage that allows clients to direct donations from the Wells Fargo Foundation to a charity of the client’s choice. To date, they have donated over $9,000 to worthy causes; half of it to LGBT focused charities. He is also a dues paying member of Stonewall Columbus, the Stonewall Democrats of Central Ohio, the OSU LGBT Alumni Association and the Wexner Center. He also regularly contributes to the political campaigns of pro-LGBT equality elected officials and candidates.
Terry grew up in Toledo, Ohio and is an Eagle Scout. He attended St. John’s Jesuit High School and The Ohio State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
