I was responsible for the SMTP module of the email system. Dived deep into J2SE, Java Network Programming(Socket/UDP/TCP), SMTP and POP3 protocol as well as the email server system itself. Made use of the open source Log4j for common logging.
The project turned out to be a pretty successful pilot project in the end.
It was written in pure Java (Core Java or Java SE) and developed using Eclipse on Fedora Core 2 .
