Nearly three decades in the interior design arena coupled with as many years in leadership positions at local and national levels with The American Society of Interior Designers culminated in election as national President for 2001. Following completion of a B.A. degree in Interior Design, extensive training was added in speaking and presentation skills, leadership, coaching and mentoring skills, stratetic and futures scenario planning. This combination of skills positioned Maurer to work with the industry/supply side of the interior design profession, assisting suppliers in situational analysis and strategy development to help capture the interior design market segment.
Speaking and training seminars on business topics and generational diversity have been developed and presented across the US and in Canada at major industry trade shows and for related organizations. Included in ASID 'Distinguished Speaker Series' 2005--2008.
Maurer has written numerous articles for national trade publications as well as being interviewed and quoted in books and magazines on issues and topics related to the interior design profession. Contributed articles on business and interior design topics to print publications, web sites and blogs. Author and publisher of 'Designing Strategies', a bi-monthly e-newsletter. Recently signed a contract with Wiley & Sons Publishing to coauthor a book on the business of Interior Design, due to be published at the end of 2008.

Served a three-year commitment as President-elect, President and Past-President of the world's largest professional association for interior designers. In my capacity as President-elect, was responsibility for strategic planning for this 33,000 member organization. Implementation of the plan occured during my term as President. Leadership training was received at The Center for Creative Leadership including problem solving, team work, mentoring, and coaching.
