After four years in neurodiagnostics, I identified a need on the part of physicians to have a business and operations consultant for doing business in the field of neurodiagnostics. I devised corporate structures involving physician ownership which were compliant with complicated federal and state statutes, and acted as a liaison between physicians and health attorneys. As a present and trusted consultant, I addressed a wide variety of questions from supply chain and equipment furnishing to asset allocation and financing. This availability allowed me to execute several of my proposed structures, after consulting with a health law attorney, in early in 2011. From this point, I began to strengthen the operational tenets of these structures to produce and manage several profitable companies. My future interests under this management company include duplication of the proven models I have implemented as well as exploring other applications of corporate structuring in health care.
I oversee all aspects of providing neurodiagnostic services to patients in several local hospitals. The duties of this position include: hospital contracting, supply chain management, accounting, billing procedures, insurance contract negotiations, state and national credentialing, quality assurance, protocol creation and maintenance, physician relations, scheduling, and human resources.
Outside of honing my clinical skills, this position gave me a thorough course in all operational aspects of a healthcare service company from multiple angles. I arranged technical coverage for multiple physician offices and learned the immeasurable value of clear, concise, communication with physicians, whose time for logistics and operations is slight. I learned how to manage expectations for technicians, physician's staff, and hospital staff regarding workflow operations and timing of technical monitoring.
