Terrance Barkan, CAE's Summary

I am passionate about helping organizations develop social media strategies and international growth business plans. I use my more than 20 years of rich experience to help organizations grow.

Having served as the executive director and CEO for international professional societies, trade associations and foundations, I speak from personal experience. I have had the same responsibilities of the people I now help and can empathise with their challenges and objectives.

I not only consult on how to grow and manage online professional communities, I have created and now manage my own communities. When I observed that most organizations needed advice on the legal aspects of social media, I created a group that now includes more than 170 attorneys focused 100% on this topic.

I am the author of numerous articles on international association management and social media strategy issues including White Papers and articles that have been published by the American Society of Association Executives and other sector publications. My work has helped make me a recognized Global Thought Leader on association management and social media strategy.

As a former Board Member of the European Society of Association Executives (ESAE), a current member of the International Section of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and as formerly active volunteer in the Association Management Company Institute (AMCi), I have invested my own volunteer time in leadership positions.

My international experience includes a period serving as a special advisor to the Chinese Federation of Industrial Economics (CFIE) in Beijing, China, an umbrella group that includes most of the major Chinese trade associations.

I have had the privilage to live or work in more than 50 countries around the world, developing a significant body of knowledge and experience that I apply for the beneifit of my clients.
