Listening. That's what I do. I listen. I absorb. I hear it, inhale it, and then I type it.
I could say my experience is in interviewing or investigating, in research and retelling, in feature writing and news writing and any writing in between.
I could say my experience is in cleaning, gutting, and frying an article, draining off the fat, leaving the meat, adding some spice and a buttery sauce.
I could say my experience is in journalism.
But more honestly, more bluntly, I am only a mere conduit for what I see, what I hear, what I detect, what I'm told, what I feel, what awakens me, what refreshes me, what pricks any emotion - from boiling mad to boredom, what reaches anything beyond that first layer of skin.
I listen. And I type. That's what I do.
I'm really, really good at saying little but using a whole, whole, bunch of words.
