Currently, I am a candidate for PhD in Computer Sciences at UT Austin. My research work is about ontologies (knowledge-bases) and Semantic Web. As a part of my research at UT, I am also leading the software development team working on Morphster project. Morphster project has been funded by NSF, and is a part of 'Assembling a Tree of Life' initiative by NSF. The software is intended to provide collaborative image driven ontology editing and phylogenetic studies.
Previously, I have lead the system analysis and software development efforts of Radix Academics Suite for National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Pakistan. Radix has a distributed architecture and supports functions like Online Registration, Profiles Management, Semester Work, Accounts, Degree and Course Plans, Notice-board and Course Management. Radix is a web-based system and has an elaborate access control mechanism to provide appropriate information to the administration, office users, students and the faculty.
My research work falls in the domain of ontology and Semantic Web. The main focus is on building 'image driven ontologies'. I am also working on building triple stores for ontologies and creating mappings between different formats like Open Biomedical Ontologies (OBO), SQL and OWL.
