As part of my continued focus within the Public Sector I joined the Alcatel-Lucent Telecom side of the business to focus on a new strategy, titled Digital-Regeneration. This involved trancending the traditional Enterprise/Carrier model, and engaging with Local Authorities to establish new business models and partnerships for the delivery of Open Access Networks. This also comprised working with Carriers, Integrators, Government bodies and Community initiatives to utilize Next Generation Technology in order to enrich the user experience, stimulate economic growth and deliver cost and risk reduction for Government organisations. This resulted in success with some of the first Community Open Access Networks in the country, namely South Yorkshire Digital Region, Baltic Business Quarter (Gateshead) and Elephant and Castle MUSCO (London).

After helping define public sector strategy for Alcatel-Lucent's Enterprise business, I was granted the role of UK Healthcare Sector Manager, as part of a post merger re-organisation. My prime focus was partnering with UK NHS Trusts to deliver technology solutions that enrich patient care, enhance caregiver efficiency whilst delivering cost and risk reduction. This resulted in a number of large multi-million strategic new business wins, comprising innovative solutions to the challenges in the sector.

I was responsible for new business development within large accounts, for data networking, security and telephony solutions. Vendors included Cisco, Avaya, Mitel and HP. This also included working closely with vendors such as BT and Cisco to design some of the first Community of Interest Networks (COIN’s) in the UK. After completing my Cisco CCDA training, I joined M3Networks as Pre-sales Specialist. My roles was to design solutions and produce proposal documents, encompassing Wired and Wireless Data, Unified Communications, Convergence, IP Telephony and Security. During the latter stages of this employment, I took a more commercial role, leading on a number of large projects. This resulted in me building and managing a sales team which contributed over 60% of the company’s sales revenue for FY 2002/2003.

Within this employment I was quickly promoted to Senior Quality Engineer and then Quality Manager and was tasked with executing the company’s ISO9000 program. This included running a team of ten people, having overall responsibility for production line operation and reporting results to board level. In addition I provided design assessment for new an innovative porducts including mobile devices, medical instruments and set top boxes.
