Born in Helensburgh, Scotland, and currently living in Sydney, Australia, Stuart Buchanan is a digital media producer, broadcaster, blogger and podcaster.
He began developing web and digital projects in 1994 and has managed developments for both the music industry (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Depeche Mode, The Delays, Gronland Records) and the broader creative industries (NOISE, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Royal Court Theatre (London), Siobhan Davies Dance Company, London Philharmonic Orchestra, FBi Radio (Sydney) and more). From 2002-2007, Stuart managed web development for UK band Goldfrapp and, in 2003, the ‘Black Cherry’ site won the MTV Europe Web Award. He is currently managing the Sydney-based media & digital development company, Community Engine.
Stuart currently edits the new music blog, Discontent, and hosts & produces a monthly music podcast, Slang Tang. From 2003-2008, Stuart presented the international music show Fat Planet on Sydney’s FBi Radio (syndicated nationally via the Community Radio Network) and edited Fat Planet’s companion blog at fatplanet.com.au - which was featured in the UK’s Guardian newspaper as ‘Best Blog For World Music’.
Stuart is actively involved in public speaking and has recently taken to the stage at Dot Bleep (Melbourne), Big Sound (Brisbane), Amplified (Hobart), Fuse Music Festival (Adelaide), Sound Summit (This Is Not Art / TINA, Newcastle) and various CBAA Conferences. From 2006-2008, he served a two-year term as Board Member of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia.
