David Epstein's Volunteer Experience & Causes
AIESEC Alumni InternationalFebruary 2012 – March 2014 (2 years 2 months)
I led a global network of AIESEC alumni in business, government and academia, and I advised AIESEC International as a member of its Supervisory Group. AIESEC, the world's largest youth-driven organization, promotes responsible leadership on a global scale through its operations in more than 100 countries and has nearly one million alumni worldwide. Following my two-year term as President, I was elected to another term on the organization's Executive Board, where I serve now.
Chairman, Board of Directors
AIESEC LifeOctober 2010 – May 2012 (1 year 8 months)
I worked with the Executive Director and fellow board members to guide this non-profit organization. AIESEC Life supports the activities of AIESEC in the US while also enabling thousands of alumni to connect, collaborate and learn from each other. I resigned as Chairman in May 2012 to lead the global association, but I remain a member of the Board of Directors.
International Executive Envoy and Intern
AIESECSeptember 1980 – August 1982 (2 years)
I was sent by AIESEC International to Buenos Aires to help reestablish and grow the organization's activities in Argentina. I then worked at companies in South America and Europe through AIESEC's global internship program.
AIESEC United StatesJuly 1979 – June 1980 (1 year)
While attending college, I was elected to join the Board of Directors of AIESEC United States, Inc., a non-profit organization. I helped define strategies, allocate resources and hire staff while also assisting the development of local committees nationwide. I had the privilege of serving on the Board alongside senior executives and a former US secretary of commerce.
Co-Founder and Co-President
AIESEC BerkeleySeptember 1977 – June 1979 (1 year 10 months)
My co-founders and I convinced AIESEC US to extend the world’s largest youth-driven organization to Cal. We formed a student management team, gained support from the university, recruited a large and motivated member base, and marketed foreign interns to local companies, thereby also enabling our members to go on business internships overseas.
