John Stonborough

John Stonborough FCIPR specialises in campaigns and crises, providing authoritative and discreet Communication Advocacy to corporate and private clients world-wide. He is the MD of Stonborough Media Group, comprising John Stonborough & Co (est.1988), and Air Supremacy Ltd, a media training company. He also lectures and writes about handling the hostile media and media regulation. He is known for observing “An interview is no time for an original thought.”
His current and recent clients include Superdrug, Barclays Bank, Kellogg's, Eastern Airways, Halfords, Waitrose, Fiat, B&Q, Save Historic Newmarket, Savills and the world’s largest re-insurer Swiss Re.
From 2001 to 2004 John was Media Adviser to the Speaker and House of Commons Commission (UK Parliament). He is the great-nephew of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. His working career began as a London policeman and then as a reporter for the Daily Mail, BBC Radio 4, Thames Television and Channel 4 TV. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations , an Associate of Project Associates the respected strategic issue communications consultancy.
His blog "Caution: May Contain Traces of Humour" is in its sixth year (www.airsupremacy.co.uk/blog). John observes and comments on a wide range of communication related subjects, including language, journalism, public relations, media codes and the law, @stonborough. He is fluent in German, competent in French and has basic written and spoken Russian "Ни дня без строчки" . He enjoys studying, sailing, skiing, flying light aircraft and downloading new Apps.
