Stewart's career began in the social science field. As head of an audience research team at the BBC he developed knowledge of how people consume TV and more importantly how they understand and ‘read’ it. Moving to the seminal BBC Domesday project as Social Science Editor he took that a stage further defining new ways of communicating via interactive media.
The Pandora’s Box of non-linear and digital media communication has defined his career development since. He has also helped shape the industry through his work over the years with the likes of the Apple Computers, Macromedia, European Commission, British Library R&D Dept. Taskforce 2000, UK Multimedia Special Interest Group and DTI Electronic Publishing and Content Taskforce.
Having sold Nexus Multimedia to the AMVBBDO Stewart worked for 7 years within the Omnicom Group firstly at Traffic Interactive and then Proximity London where he held a variety of Board and Managing Partner level positions leading the digital offering. He is a passionate evangelist for interactive digital media and has often been a key note speaker at conferences and events all over the world as well as being a regular contributor of articles to trade journals and press.
As Chief Strategy and Technology Officer at Pelagon he lead their technology strategy and product developement roadmap including localisation. Also setting in place project management and development processes.
Stewart maintains his involvement with innovative projects and developments in the digital space through consultancy and non-executive directorships. He is a founding partner and Chairman of the advisory board for Reelives.com a web 2.0/UGC startup. He's worked with several industry bodies including DMA Mobile Marketing Council and has often been invited to judge digital and interactive awards.
Stewart is currently Director of Digital for integrated agency Communique360. He also provides consultancy as a creative technologist.
