Steven Sonsino’s Summary

How do senior executives and high flyers lead their businesses under such huge short-term pressures?

I suspect they end up trying to do more themselves instead of 'leading through others'.

To get the message across that less (leadership) is more (performance), I travel widely, speaking to large audiences for business schools, professional associations and major corporations.

For managers who want a deeper insight into our research my wife Jacqueline and I have written two business books on the challenge for leaders today:

'Leadership Unplugged' (which is 'learned yet practical' says Harvard Business School Press).

And 'The Seven Failings of Really Useless Leaders' ('what, only 7?' asks 'The Guardian').

For managers who can't get to the business schools where I usually teach and speak, I publish what became one of the top 5 leadership podcasts at iTunes. Now, because of the huge trend to online video, I'm launching deathofleadership.com as a video site, but there's more to come. Watch this space.

I also publish a blog at Fast Company.com and an online leadership newsletter at Leadership.fm. Feel free to sign up at either spot and hook into my latest research thoughts.

You can also download a free ebook, 'Reinventing Your Leadership' at stevensonsino.com, my personal site for conference and event planners.

I look forward to working with you on your leadership journey.

Steven Sonsino’s Experience

  • Fellow, CMD

    London Business School

    (Higher Education industry)

    2001Present (8 years )

As a Fellow in the Centre of Management Development at London Business School I have been lucky enough to design, direct or teach on major leadership development programmes for companies such as HSBC and ExxonMobil.

Of course, London Business School is heavily driven by research and so In 2002 I launched the Tomorrow's Leaders Research Group at the School. I wanted to find out in more depth what high flyers need to do to take their leadership to the next level.

If you'd like a copy of our published research drop me an email.

For three years I was the Programme Director of the Emerging Leaders Programme and met hundreds of brilliant managers from all over the world. To a very large extent I do what I do now because of them.
