CIO at Billhighway and Tech Socialite
Greater Detroit Area
My professional experience is probably best summarized as a passionate technologist. I'm an information junkie who strives to interpret the climate of the internet economy to maximize opportunities and create value.
My best attributes have been my creativity and resourcefulness. I have a unique ability to visualize a problem (or opportunity) then analyze the business and technical requirements (and/or associated risks) and rapidly produce a proof-of-concept. I'm a big picture person who thrives on challenges.
My goals for 2009 include becoming more active within the business and technology communities in and around Metro Detroit. I thoroughly enjoy meeting people with interesting problems to solve and a desire to influence change in their respective markets. I'm interested in helping you accomplish your next big thing, sharing insight into what has helped our organization thrive in a down economic environment. Should I be able to help you out or serve as a sounding board don't hesitate to reach out!
I'm an all around technology evangelist, able to speak to most modern technologies or methodologies including: .NET, SQL, virtualization, cloud/GRID computing, Agile/XP/Scrum, SaaS/SOA, social/mobile platforms, high availability, VOIP, and all things web.
I'm willing to help you create and maximize your competitive advantage, personally or professionally. Good luck & remember to have fun -> it isn't about making the right decision, but making the decision right!

May 2003 — Present (6 years 7 months)
I currently lead the technology group and oversee our platform architecture. Since joining the company in 2003, we've managed to secure near triple-digit annual growth, expanding the business nationally and serving 100's of thousands of customers throughout the US & Canada.
Billhighway serves membership-based organizations, including professional associations, fraternal or sorority groups and alumni institutions - essentially any dues or fee-based "community" that requires specialized financial tools to help them oversee operations, membership and accounting functions. In many respects our customers use our service much like a small business would use QuickBooks, however we take it one step further, fully integrating real-time operations and reporting in one transparent system.
Our unique business proposition is to facilitate cash management, payment/donation processing, accounts receivable, membership management, accounting and tax services.

February 1998 — May 2003 (5 years 4 months)
I joined Great Lakes, (then a very entrepreneurial HR company) in a support capacity primarily serving the new-business development group. In 1999, I transferred into the Information Technology group as a network engineer helping to support it's infrastructure group and datacenters continue its 30% annual growth.
In 2000 I transferred into the software development group building annual open enrollment systems for large clients (10-50k employees). My last two years were spent working within a small R&D group building what was supposed to be the companies’ future flagship HRIS application, which was then based on Microsoft DNA architecture - which was actually modern at the time. My how time flies in technology... five years later we have web services, ajax, SOA and grid platforms. does the fun ever end??

May 1994 — February 1998 (3 years 10 months)
I started working with this company right out of school. I served as a quality control engineer managing product quality, scrap rate, productivity and internal effeciencies using Lotus 1-2-3 (ha) and SPC data.
While I was there, we grew the business from 19 employees to over 220, introducing policies and procedures along the way. I decided to end my tenure seeking a corporate position in a non-automotive world, but not before working along side senior company officials implementing numerous process improvements and corporate expansions.
It was probably here where I found my appetite for contributing to small, growth-oriented businesses while identifying patterns and practices to achieve realistic, yet aggressive goals.
