I am a system administrator and consultant with over a decade of experience with Linux and various flavors of Unix (especially HP-UX and Solaris/SunOS).
I'm a competent programmer. Most of my experience has been with Perl, C, and the Bourne/POSIX shell, but I know my way around Java, Python, Pascal, BASIC, etc.
I'm also extremely comfortable with PC hardware, from desktops up to high-end hardware. As a hobby, I've tried to keep the Linux Hardware Compatibility Howto (http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Hardware-HOWTO/) reasonably current.
Most people know me as a Linux advocate and avid user. I started the Southern Illinois Linux Users Group (http://www.silug.org/) in September of 1994 and the Linux Users of Central Illinois (http://www.luci.org/) in December of 1997. I am still active in both groups. I am also involved in the Fedora project (http://fedoraproject.org/) as a packager.
