On July 1, 2007, Steven Engravalle became the Chief School Administrator of the Hamburg Borough School District. Mr. Engravalle holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Literature from Ramapo College of New Jersey, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, and a Masters of Arts in Educational Administration from New Jersey City University. He is currently completing a doctorate in educational administration from Nova Southeastern University with an applied dissertation on the development of strategies and interventions to improve teachers’ utilization of instructional technology in professional practices to improve student achievement.
Prior to coming to Hamburg, Mr. Engravalle was Vice Principal and Lead Teacher of Writing for the Franklin Borough Public School system. In both capacities, Mr. Engravalle formulated and supervised the implementation of curriculum and lessons to meet goals of the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and assisted educators in planning for the use and integration of writing across the curricula. In addition, Mr. Engravalle has served as adjunct professor of English language and composition at Passaic County Community College in Paterson and Wanaque, New Jersey and an associate in education at the Ramapo College of New Jersey. Mr. Engravalle has also delivered many professional presentations for the Bergenfield and Irvington boards of education and Ramapo College of New Jersey.
Mr. Engravalle has also served as Teacher of Writing and Technology for the Bergenfield Board of Education. In that position, Steven composed a curriculum and lessons to meet goals of the language arts department and to address students’ intellectual, ethnic, and emotional diversity. This program was recognized by the New Jersey School Boards Association as an exemplary practice.
Mr. Engravalle asks staff, students, and parents to accept the notion of change and the concept of taking back the high ground of good performance. He also asks staff to make good choices, always keeping the best interest of students at heart, as well as to work with children to build their capacity and to model professionalism in their daily lives.
