My name is Steve Kwan, and I make history.
Not in the sense that I am a great leader or important person. Nor will you ever see me on the cover of a magazine. I'm just a software engineer living in Vancouver, British Columbia. But I do make software for libraries, archives, museums and records management.
I know that might not sound exciting, but you'd be surprised. Other software engineers might work on the cutting edge, but the cutting edge is fleeting. Technologies come and go, but history is forever. Some of my work might remain in use for decades, or if I'm really lucky, centuries. I've been entrusted with managing human history, and it's an honour and a privilege.
