  • Founder & CEO

    MediaMax

    (Privately Held; Internet industry)

    July 2007July 2008 (1 year 1 month)

MediaMax was spun-out of Streamload taking over the company’s legacy subscription-based, consumer storage service.

    - Started all new company from the ground-up: team, strategy, product, office & IT infrastructure.

    - Raised $570k in new capital, hired and managed 12-person offshore engineering team, and successfully built an entirely new consumer web application and API.

    - Maintained customer and partner commitments, and generated $1.5M in revenue in first 12 months.

    - The Company ultimately failed due to complex IP licensing issues with the parent company and a massive technical failure. An extremely disappointing outcome, but many valuable lessons were learned.

  • Founder & CEO

    Streamload

    (Privately Held; Internet industry)

    June 1998December 2006 (8 years 7 months)

Streamload was a market-leading, best-of-class service in the consumer “online storage” space. The Company's award-winning service enabled customers to store, share, and manage all of the digital data in their lives.

    - 25,000+ paying consumer subscribers

    - 80,000+ new trial accounts created every month

    - Rated best in class by leading publications

    - Managed 1,100+ TB of data on proprietary storage system

    - Over 50% of customers were outside the US

    - Maintained profitability for more than 3.5 years

I founded Streamload while in college, grew the Company to a $3M annual run rate, and later sold my interest to a private equity firm. Starting with zero and growing to 22 full-time employees over eight years, I maintained many roles while growing Streamload:

    CEO

    - With only $550k of equity financing raised in February 2000, after 16 months I brought the company to profitability and positive cash flow, and then maintained profitability for the next 3.5 years, with revenues achieving a $2.8M annual run-rate.

    - Attracted and retained top talent to build a strong executive team and employee base.

    - Raised two additional rounds of venture capital totaling $2.5M.

    - Closed $500k in debt financing from both government and institutional investors.

    CTO

    - Architected a highly-scalable proprietary storage system that gave Streamload a significant technological advantage over competitors. Managed more than 8 billion customer files.

    - Grew cost-effective datacenter operations to 150+ servers in 22 cabinets.

    - Led software engineering team of 8 until first full-time VP of Engineering was hired.

    PRODUCT MANAGER

    - Acted as lead product manager through seven major product cycles during the company’s first 8 years.

    BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

    - Participated in establishing, negotiating, and maintaining partnerships with Philips Electronics, New Mexico State University, AMD, Sprint, and others.
