My first book, Get Seen: Online Video Secrets, comes out in December 2009 from Wiley Publishing. It will be about how easy it is to get started in web video. The book will include interviews with successful web video producers where you can learn their secrets and then follow step by step guides for putting video on the web.
Selected recent speaking engagements include New England Newspaper Association, Streaming Media East/West, New Media Expo, PodCamp Boston, Video on the Net - Boston and San Jose, NH Film Festival, Woods Hole Film Festival, and Podcast Academy Boston.
Garfield is one of the Internet's first video bloggers having launched his own regular video blog on January 1, 2004.
Garfield likes to capture and share fleeting moments and teach others how to do the same. This led to his becoming co-creator of the first vloggercon, and a co-organizer of the first PodCamp held in Boston. He currently runs the Boston Media Makers which meets on the first Sunday of every month at Doyle's Cafe in Boston. Join us.
Steve Garfield's Video Blog features "The Carol & Steve Show" and "Vlog Soup." On February 3, 2005, Garfield posted what is believed to be the first video blog from a United States elected politician, Boston City Councillor John Tobin.
In 2007, Garfield produced Nina Simonds' Spices of Life video blog.
Garfield currently provides citizen journalism reports for CNN iReport, Rocketboom, TheUptake, and techPresident.
