While programming has been the focus of my work experience since 2000, It's always been tied to marketing. I like both. :) I've learned a lot about outbound marketing, channel sales, and sales support. I've also made some good progress working cross-functionally with other major teams within my company to get problems solved.
My experience with the non-profit I do work for has been much wider in breadth. I've been leading a big organizational technology upgrade for collaboration tools, helping to facilitate open channels of communication between the executive committee and the board of directors as a whole. I've also been learning a lot about leadership, making hard decisions, begging people to get involved, having people tell me they're leaving the organization, attending meetings with the city of San Jose's redevelopment agency, the Zero One technology festival, and weekly executive committee meetings.
The non-profit work has been a fantastic extension to the senses I've sharpened at my day jobs over the years, and has added a lot more to my toolbox. Maybe the best skills I've been learning to use are when to speak up and lead, and when to shut the hell up and listen.

New media strategy and implementation using syndication technologies, content management systems, wikis, blogs, e-commerce systems, analytics, digital advertising, plus a (very) large assortment of other skills related to media production, design, branding, and marketing.

My job is primarily to capture sales leads and route them to the appropriate inside sales organization staff member for a phone call follow up. While my organizational position is in marketing, I bridge the gap between the customers visiting our website and our sales organization.
I work with marketing managers to design and implement tools to effectively manage marketing messages and offer comprehensive solutions to our customers needs on the web. I create tools to capture inbound customer data and get that info to a live sales person to jump on the hot sales lead. We rely heavily on automating as much of our processes as reasonable, which is where my PHP and MySQL skills shine.

Managed one of the oldest non-profit arts organizations in San Jose, during an extremely challenging period of it's life. Coordinated 85% of the entire annual art auction and raised ~$9,000. Ran monthly board meetings. Pushed to hire a gallery coordinator. Was one of only two board members at the lowest point, and helped to turn around the board so that it sits at 8 members at the time my tour of duty was done.

One specific project I did was to develop an in-house project postmortem assessment tool to be used by staff and clients to determine how well the agency did on specific projects. It involved data capture, front end design, back end administration tools, and analysis and summary report preparation.

Developed a web-based marketing tool to track responses to email campaigns. Mass mailings were sent out to email lists and then we measured how people responded to the email by tracking what they clicked on. Analysis and reporting tools were created for cgrafx account executives for reporting to the client on the effectiveness of the email campaign.
