As a consultant, I have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of clients and technologies. A majority of my experience has been in energy trading and trading support technologies.
I am currently deployed as an architect in Charlotte, NC helping a client with everything from exchange connectivity to overall trading strategies. We are currently utilizing Spring, Hibernate and Weblogic in a distributed service framework in which data is published and maintained by Oracle Coherence, an industry leading data grid. My main responsibilities is overall technical leadership, including everything from design to testing.

Lead developer in development of a custom power scheduling system able to accomodate the Market Redesign and Technology Upgrade (MRTU) currently underway by the California ISO.

This project was dealing directly with the allocations and balancing pieces of internal pipeline management software. These software systems generate the billable numbers for over $2 billion in annual revenue.
Responsibilities: Convert existing COBOL programs and reports from OS/390 to Java. Convert all predetermined allocation creation and defaulting processes, along with several of the balancing processes to the in house LINK framework, which consisted of an existing persistence and messaging framework. Responsibilities included converting 20 to 25 reports that were currently implemented in COBOL over to a Java/ReportMill system. Assisted in conversion of enterprise database from DB2 on OS/390 to Oracle 10.

Overview: This Company is an inspection and testing service for the petrochemical and oil industry. Our services include barge inspections, shore tank inspections and sample gathering for laboratory analysis. SAM is the software that the inspectors use as a reporting system for the results of the inspections. The functionality includes the ability to generate RTF documents for our customers that include all the technical data needed, such as volumes of tanker loads and analysis results.
Responsibilities: Maintenance of existing software product as well as requirements gathering and analysis of software centralization and redesign. Development was accomplished using Eclipse, MyEclipse Workbench. Development, testing and production deployment were on Tomcat 4.1.20.

AspenTech's APS Workbench product manages data from incoming data sources such as 3rd party applications and flat files, allows users to create OLAP cubes based on the incoming data. Data published from different sources to common data bus using TIBCO. Product is integrated with Hyperion’s Essbase Analyzer. UI designed to run on client’s server using Tomcat and allows user to create the different data constraints needed to customize reports needed from OLAP cube.
Responsibilities: All architecture design of APS Workbench and data management packages. All Development was completed using Java, JDBC, Apache’s DBCP, Struts (UI), and Log4J. Development and deployment of application was done on Microsoft Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003. Code works with both Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Oracle 9i (could be ported to other DBMS with very little work).

Architecture and design of web services for enterprise data retrieval and business processes. Created Web Service based system in which SOAP Requests from client applications are processed using servlet filters and stateless session beans (EJB). The stateless session beans call Oracle stored procedures via JDBC and return data to the client via a SOAP Response. Second iteration moving to table level stored procedures and entity beans with bean managed persistence (EJB BMP) for all enterprise data access. System runs on WebSphere 5.0.1 located on 5 IBM Blade Servers running Red Hat Linux Advanced Server.
All development done using WebSphere Studio Application Developer. Testing and deployment on WebSphere Application Server on XP Pro and Red Hat Advanced Server. Required mentoring existing Continental employees on Java, WebSphere and web-based technologies such as HTTP, AXIS, and SOAP.

Overview: Developed Contract Management System for natural gas transportation on multiple pipelines, including Northern Natural Gas, Florida Gas Transmission and Transwestern Pipeline.
Responsibilities: Design, wrote and implemented front end navigation for capacity release system utilizing Struts to integrate back end business logic with front end JSPs. Wrote both front end navigation logic and back end business logic. Involved in requirements gathering, as well as system testing and integration.
Document Management System. Developed custom legal document management system. Creates documents based on centralized language library stored in SQL 2000 database. XML documents are created from back end object-oriented JAVA code and then sent to Cocoon for presentation to business users. Also wrote front-end navigation using Struts Documents are converted to FO then to PDF using Cocoon pipeline. Heavy JAVA and XSLT.

Responsibilities: Developed in-house enterprise portal for agents, completely written in Java and JSP. Integrated with IBM Policy Director for security management of multiple trusted enterprise applications. All data was retrieved and maintained in LDAP directory. Deployment, configuration and management of Unix servers to run Policy Director software.
Online application for life insurance. Completely written in Java and JSP. Customers could fill out state approved PDF online and print out for mail. Customer information is then loaded into mainframe datasets via a batch program written in C. Application runs on WebSphere and IBM HTTP Server.
Mainframe analysis and development, maintenance of existing COBOL programs for day-to-day batch cycles.
