Steve Hall is Managing Director at Vulcan Capital where he heads up Vulcan's venture capital investment efforts. His investment areas include next-generation Internet services, semantic Web and data discovery, alternative energy, wireless infrastructure, and embedded networks. Steve is a board member or board observer of Ember Corporation, Redfin, Evri Inc., Infinia Corporation, Gist, Radar Networks, Audience, Vulcan Spectrum and the Allen Institute for Brain Science. He is also spearheaded Vulcan's investments in AltaRock Energy, Smith & Tinker and Zoominfo.

Steve began venture investing with Prospect Street Ventures where his investment activity included About.com (acquired by NY Times), Multex Systems (acquired by Reuters), Live Advice (acquired by Ingenio) and later Bigfoot Interactive (acquired by Alliance Data). Early in his venture career, Steve was profiled by UPSIDE magazine as a "VC to watch" in the article, "Bold: A New Generation is Changing the Face of Venture Capital." Steve was formerly a corporate attorney with White & Case in New York, where he focused on M&A and securities transactions. He has been a frequent guest lecturer on venture capital investing and deal structuring at Columbia, UCLA and Boulder law schools. Steve received his double BA in business administration and political science from Furman University and JD from Columbia University Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He is a member of the New York Bar.
