January 1995 — Present (13 years 5 months)
Founded Netconcepts as a web design firm in 1995, specializing in creating dynamic, personalized, community-building Web sites. Duties primarily involve strategic planning, forging strategic partnerships, marketing, public relations, and development of new products, services and company-owned web properties (e.g. Writers.Net and InnSite.com). Sought-after speaker and contributor to various magazines. Took the company from start-up to a multi-national firm focused on SEO (search engine optimization), with a client roster that now includes HSN, REI, AOL, Kohl's, Gorton's, Cabela's, Verizon SuperPages.com and many others.

September 1993 — December 1994 (1 year 4 months)
Research assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Max Nibert while a graduate student in the Department of Biochemistry. Research focus was the mammalian reovirus. Conducted some "wet bench" work such as plaque assays, gel electrophoresis, etc. But work primarily involved molecular vizualization of virus structures. My work on radial depth cueing of 3-D cryoelectron microscopic reconstructions of reovirus datasets was published in the Journal of Structural Biology (1997) and one of my images made the front cover of the issue. Presented a paper "Communicating Information about Virus Structure and Biology Via the World Wide Web" at the Second International World Wide Web Conference in 1994. Developed the award-winning website for the Institute for Molecular Virology. Contributed dozens of computer-generated animations and images of various viruses for Academic Press' Encyclopedia of Virology CD-ROM.
