Product Marketing
Cape Town Area, South Africa
I am a motivated and ambitious person. I am determined to achieve what I set out to achieve, and even more determined to over-achieve the set goals. I am young, entrepreneurial and enthusiastic. I regard the business world as a monetized playground and I am mildly competitive when it comes to playing games.
I love the internet, I love working on the internet, I love mobile internet, I love online social inter-activities and I love turning these circles into markets. I am a keen internet business evangelist and I predominantly work online. I have had many many many years of experience in this field, as I have been online since the first modems hit South African shores at the age of 11. Before that, I was playing lemmings in dos :)
I believe that the online world is still 80% under-developed and that there is still a whole that can be done to improve the processes and the way corporates use this "new world" to leverage financial success, CRM and growth.
The next big thing: "Mobile Internet, globally"
Branding, Conceptualizing, Implementation, Analytics, Negotiations, Internet, web2.0, social media, social networking, marketing (online and offline), strategy, product design, usability, telecommunications, functionality, innovation, mobile internet.

I work within the Naspers group, for a subsidiary company called 24.com (www.24.com). It is South Africa, and probably Africa's largest online portal, ranking as the #1 property for SA internet users. I work in the mobile department, where I am the Product Marketing specialist. My role includes (in keyword form) the following: market research, product research, strategy, product development, usability, analytics and marketing.

I recently joined Kindo on a part-time basis. Kindo is a social network that brings families together, one of the only social networks that are truly global. Kindo is translated into 14 languages, and I am the SA Country Manager - which means I translate into Afrikaans and do general marketing and PR for them in SA.
This is a fun project and I work on this after hours.

Working in the Acquisition team (team of 3), I am responsible for Search Engine Marketing via PPC as well as SEO. I am also tasked with identifying, negotiating and conceptualizing key web properties and adverts that align with our vertical marketing strategies. I am also very involved with web-analytics where we structure tools to deliver relevant information to help us with decision making and formulating the correct strategies.
Since I started at Clicktell I have doubled PPC revenue and tremendously increased SEO revenue. I was the business lead in the implementation of Site Catalyst as well as Clickable, both are web metric management tools that deliver valuable information regarding your customers and their actions.
Apart from the above, I was also tasked with managing the online marketing budget and delivering on excessive ROI targets.

I was responsible for the setting up of the processes for the launch and distribution of a new water product called Origin. Origin is organic water, which is the first and only bottled organic water in the country. It was my duty to source suppliers, transporters and warehousing in the most cost-efficient manner and essentially derive a cost/benefit analysis as well as the prospective profit ratios. Although this is not really the type of job I see myself in, I do think it was a valuable learning curve.
