Stefano Mainetti received in 1985 his degree in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. Actually he is a contract professor of “Technologies, Applications and Servicies of Internet” at Politecnico di Milano. He is an aggregate Professor of the Faculty of MIP-Politecnico di Milano in the area of "Management of Information System" and he is a co-director of EMBA-ICT (Master in Business Administration in ICT Management) and MCU (Mediamarket Coporate University).
He is director of the area “Innovazione Digitale” of Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, applied research area dedicated to technology transfer to Italian Enterprises and Public Administration. He has been participating to various research projects. In particular, he is a component of the Sceintific Board of ICT&Management Observatories of the School of Management of the Politecnico di Milano.
He is a component of the Scientific Commettee of the Centre of Company Culture of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Craft Trade and Agriculture of Milan.
He is founder and chairman of WebScience srl (www.webscience.it) a company born with the goal of emphasize knowledge and research in complementary sectors, translating them into real economic value for its clients. WebScience is a spin-off of the EBLab Research Centre of Politecnico Innovazione (Politecnico di Milano).
His interests include Company Innovation based on Information and Communication Technologies. He has always been interested in the relationship between tecnology and management culture. In these last years he has studied the impact of Web 2.0 on people and companies.
He has published books and papers on national and international journals and conference proceedings.
