She was blogging back in the late 1990s when it was “online journaling,” way before the term “blog” was coined. Becoming frustrated and impatient after graduating college with her organizational communication degree and unable to find work, she went into business for herself as principal of TDR Communications, LLC, a public relations/social media consultancy that specialized in nonprofits and small businesses, relying heavily on her experience growing up involved in chambers of commerce. After a strange twist of events, she accepted a position with the Detroit Regional Chamber in August 2009 as their Interactive Marketing Coordinator, where she remained until December 2009.
