Ever since I was a little girl, I have been obsessed with two things: writing and technology. While my sisters played, I would sit with my mom, a DoD Computer Specialist, checking pages of code. At the same time, I would write stories and plays for my sisters to act out.
I entered college with dreams of becoming a Software Developer. Around the same time, I was also working as a Help Desk/System Administrator. However, I still felt like something was missing. I started thinking about what I really wanted, and decided that writing had to be part of the equation.
With the help of “The Writer’s Handbook 2009: The Complete Guide for all Writers, Publishers, Editors, Agents and Broadcasters,” I found the perfect career: Technical Writer. I started writing needed documentation for my Help Desk, and volunteering my services to non-profit organizations. I assisted them with their grant writing, newsletters, press releases, and technical documentation. I slowly became an expert in a profession that I was extremely passionate about. It’s been over eight years, and I love what I do more and more each day that passes by.
