I was hired as a service desk analyst at this medium-sized company providing service excellence to the public sector. I supported approximately 5000 users working in a team of usually 8 and took between 25-35 calls a day.
• Provided first-line support responsible for basic customer issues
• Logged all calls using Magic Service Desk from Remedy Software
• Gathered the customer’s information and determined the customer’s issue
• Resolved around 70-80% of the user problems received otherwise escalated to other support teams
• New starters and leavers procedures
• Supported Microsoft Office 2003 (Word + Outlook) & Windows XP
• Performed data recovery tasks via Windows Server 2003

I applied to a UK-based research company that accepted me as a freelance researcher giving me the opportunity to hone my writing skills.
• During this period I worked self-employed from anywhere (i.e. home and overseas) completing academic research assignments 'on-demand' for fixed fees.
• In addition I wrote and published my own non-fiction book entitled Socionics Demystified: A New Social Psychology for Understanding Relationships. ISBN-10: 184753595X. Published by Lulu Enterprises Inc. in June 2007.

I was hired by a small London-based business to install and troubleshoot their bespoke visitor management solution.
• Primarily a customer facing role with some advice given over the telephone
• Installed and supported I.D. card printers, bar code scanners and biometric devices etc.
• Provided training on the MultiBadge visitor management system
• Configured Windows XP based LANs for Internet, file and print sharing
• Carried out database maintenance on the MultiBadge visitor management system
• Ad-hoc work included network installations involving cabling, crimping and line testing

I was accepted by this well-known charity to do voluntary work in their I.T. Department.
• Voluntarily worked (un-paid) for this well-known charity in the I.T. department of their head office. My main project involved using Norton Ghost to re-image around 250 redundant Intel Pentium 2 computers with Windows '98 to make suitable for re-usage.
• In addition I got involved with PC builds and troubleshooting and thus gained exposure to the Heat call logging system, their IBM server environment and virtualisation principles

• Graduated with a final mark of 66.50.
• Final dissertation entitled, "Investigating the decline of student take-up in Physics and how Multimedia can be used to re-engage students." Achieved a first-class award for this work and a monetary offer to develop it as the basis for a new commercial "Games Lab".
