Graduate of Rice University
Colorado Springs, Colorado Area
I graduated from Rice University this last May (May, 2008) with a BS in mechanical engineering, specializing in computational engineering, with a GPA of 3.76/4.0. Focusing my courses towards understanding the underlying methods of computational engineering, I took many non-required, but none the less vital, courses in the computational analysis department, along with the usual regiment of FEM and engineering design classes. I began my college career as a physics major, and I am happy to have taken my knowledge of physics well beyond that of the usual mechanical engineering's.
Research experience includes analysis of efficient building design (part of my senior project), and reproduction of the Heisler Charts using the Fourier series in Cartesian, cylindrical and spherical coordinates for a textbook publication. As a part-time job while studying at Rice, I developed web-based applications, and I pride myself on being an efficient and able engineering software developer. Extracurricular activities include varsity track and field, student government, and tutoring of struggling students.
Since graduation, I have taken an opportunity to improve my Spanish language skills, broaden my cultural knowledge, and pursue my hobby of web design before embarking on journey that will be my career. I have been traveling through Argentina and Chile for five months, and while it has truly been the experience of a lifetime, I am excited and anxious to begin my career in engineering.
