Geoff Sowrey’s Summary
In short: I build teams.
Consider that statement for a moment: I don’t speak merely of hiring people. That part is trivial compared to the task of creating a self-supporting, self-teaching, and respectful environment. You cannot seat people next to one another and call them a “team” — you have to focus their efforts, hone their skills, play their strengths and support their weaknesses. Only when they act as a single unit can you consider success.
I describe myself as a technical communicator. I bridge the gap between the needs of a project and those who execute it. I help recognise goals, milestones, and challenges, and guide the team to achieve them. (The more difficult the challenge, the more rewarding the experience.) My success comes from the team’s success.
