System Administrator at Uppsala Universitet
Stockholm Area, Sweden
Started out in the late 80s with an Amstrad PC1512 running a wretched little 8086 CPU and MS-DOS. Since then I've expanded my IT-knowledge in most everything IT; I know a little about many areas and a whole lot about others.
In 1992 I took two basic chemistry courses at Mitthögskolan in Sundsvall. I stayed there till spring 1993.
1993 in the autumn found me in Uppsala and the Uppsala University, where I'd applied to take chemistry, biology and immunology courses. I did my final exam for a BSc at the Institution of Medical and Physiological Chemistry in 1996.
1997-1999 I took two temp-jobs as a teacher in mathematics, chemistry, biology, computers and technology with the senior high-classes at Tiundaskolan in Uppsala and Aspenskolan in Tierp.
Until 1999 I was a hobbyist IT-guy, helping out family and friends. In the autumn 1999 however, I was offered to take a six month IT-course by SwIT (Swedish IT) to become a certified Systems Engineer, an opportunity I leapt at. This included getting certified by Microsoft, and I now hold MCSE, MCP and MCP+I certifications, as well as a CompTIA A+.
In the autumn of 2000, I was employed at the Uppsala University at the Department of Organic Pharmaceutical Chemistry to help them build an IT infrastructure. There was already a *nix-based group in place doing CADD (Computer Aided Drug Design), but my task was to expand and fortify IT for the Ph. D.-students and senior staff. I did this and was further hired for IT-support and maintenance.
In 2007 I was hired as a Sysadmin by the department for the foreseeable future and got other assignments added as well, including but not limited to web development and maintenance and supporting and maintaining the *nix-group.
HTML, OS/2, Microsoft Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2008 Administration, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista, IIS, Active Directory, Group Policy, software deployment, Microsoft Office, linux, Red Hat Linux, CentOS, Apache, Smoothwall, firewall, iptables, scripting (batch, sh), network, TCP/IP, hardware, software.
