Scott Mendenhall has over 13 years of Web development and management experience in all areas including strategy, consulting, operations, and programming. He has built and led development teams implementing various technologies (ECM, Java, open source) for more than 100 mid to large size clients.
Prior to joining Ironworks, Scott was the SVP of Technology at IXI Corporation where he helped lead the team that delivered a web application for one of the top five financial institutions in the U.S. Before IXI Corporation, he was the Director of Development at NavigationArts where he was instrumental in delivering web solutions for clients such as Smithsonian, National Geographic/NatureServe, Kajeet and the Wolf Trap Foundation. While at NavigationArts Scott also co-founded the Web Content Mavens, a grassroots networking group focusing on content management.
Scott was CEO and co-founder of OpenHosting, a next-generation hosting provider focusing on affordable and scalable hosting solutions. Prior to founding OpenHosting, he had eight years of hands-on experience as the CEO and co-founder of M23, a technology start-up providing application development and Web hosting such clients as BBC America, PBS, Ritz Camera, and Riggs Bank. Before starting M23, Scott worked as a Technical Project Manager for Proxicom. His clients included GE, Georgia Pacific, Discovery, CNBC and Chevy Chase Bank.
In addition, Scott was named by Washington Business Forward Magazine as one of The Next Network, a group of up-and-comers selected by a poll of the region's top CEOs, organization leaders, lawyers, and venture capitalists. He has also been a speaker at COMDEX, ISPCON, Open Publish and HostingCon, and currently teaches a graduate-level Computer Science course at The George Washington University entitled “E-commerce Security”.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management from the University of Notre Dame and a Master's Degree in Computer Science from The George Washington University.
