Hillis has expressed himself creatively throughout his life. His creative outlets included such forms as writing poetry and graphic design. He is a self published poet, entrepreneur and inspirational writer. Through out his career, he spent most of the years in the customer service industry.

The customer interactions, both professional and personable, enabled him to know and understand what the customer wants, not only in services, but products as well. This knowledge elevated him to a position as a marketing assistant with Chase. With the years of experience and knowledge gained, he started a graphic design and marketing agency, KineticBrainTrust. With the birth of the company, his ability to generate ideas and concepts grew, by working closely with his clients and understanding what it is they wanted to market and grow their business.

Not limiting himself to realm of graphic design and poetry, he extended himself to answering the need of helping small businesses and entrepreneurs. This need developed into the bartering social networking site Smart Bareter.

Smart Bareter is a bartering social network focused on entrepreneurs, small business owners and startups. The community trades resources, skills and inventory, to expand their business capabilities and build awareness of the product or service each individual provides. This allows the community to use their cash flow in a more prudent manner.
