I have close to twenty-six years' experience programming, and sixteen years' professional experience building applications for business using the best available technologies. This experience helps me make sound judgments about how best to design a system and arrange development processes to achieve business goals.
I have a broad but keen interest in software, and enjoy exploring new programming avenues as a hobby. I take an interest in software quality and good design, and treat my work as a profession, not as a job. My business communication skills are top-notch, and I can communicate effectively with both business leaders and technical specialists.
I hold a number of Microsoft certifications for VB 6.0, .NET 1.1 and 2.0, as well as a programming certification from Sun for the Java 2 platform.
Ultimately, my goal is to found my own software or consulting company, implement some of my own ideas about effective software development, and see those ideas blossom.
I specialize in designing and building database-driven business applications using web technologies. I am knowledgeable about Microsoft's .NET platform and the C# language, but I do not shy away from other technologies and will use whatever is appropriate. My client work for the last seven to eight years has exposed me to regulatory compliance and auditing topics (FDA), and financial services including ACH, wire transfer, fed funds, (re)insurance, etc.

The scope of my work varies widely and covers the full lifecycle of custom app development projects for my clients. This includes:
- Requirements gathering;
- System architecture, design, and prototyping;
- Design review;
- Estimation;
- Programming, unit testing and integration;
- Managing developers;
- System and load test planning and execution;
- Deployment, training and support;
- Infrastructure management;
- Product evaluation;
- Recruitment and interviewing.
I work mostly with technologies from Microsoft, though I also have some level of experience with a wider variety of technologies including Linux, Oracle, PHP and Java. I consider myself a member of the Alt.Net community and I am a fan of agile practices in general, though perhaps not to the extreme.
My clients include the likes of Pfizer, BellSouth, and Siemens as well as governmental agencies, non-profits, financial services and insurance companies.
