Centralized User Support Specialist at Missouri State University
Springfield, Missouri Area
I have worked in Computer Services at Missouri State University for five years, beginning as a student worker in our Open-Access Computer Labs before moving to the Help Desk. I became full-time here in January of 2007 and quickly discovered that very little of my work falls within the traditional boundaries of our Help Desk duties.
Much of my time is spent researching and developing new solutions to problems, particularly utilizing open source software; developing, building, and maintaining servers; writing documentation; and training.

I'm a solutions provider with emphases in training and documentation. When approaching a problem or looking for a new way to do business, I try and find the way, then prove the concept. I spend a decent amount of time on server and web development/maintenance, in meetings, and working on a wide variety of special projects. A key portion of my job has been the support of a Banner ERP implementation.
