Media entrepreneur + publisher of Silicon Valley Watcher and other sites
San Francisco Bay Area
I have been reporting on the business of Silicon Valley for US and global newspapers and magazines since 1984. I also published a local newspaper in San Francisco 1987 to 1989. I worked full time for the Financial Times from 1999 to 2004 and contributed articles from 1985 onwards. I have been working as a media entrepreneur for much of my working life.
I am currently publishing Silicon Valley Watcher - reporting on the business and culture of Silicon Valley. It is a news/blog site also featuring other reporters and editors. My goal is to explore emerging online business models with this, and other media ventures.
I am also involved in several new media/communications projects including changing the format of the press release so that it more accurately reflects our multi-layered media world.
I have recently begun to offer consultancy services to select companies helping them craft media strategies that encompass traditional and new/social media.
Today, every company is a media company whether they make diapers or steel. Every company needs to be able to effectively publish to their various communities, internal and external. Every company needs to be able to master the new publishing technologies of RSS, Twitter and beyond...
