Community Editor, Online at BusinessWeek
Greater New York City Area
Online community manager and editor and award-winning digital journalist, writer, editor and content creator, including producing, writing and editing for print, TV, video and the Web. Looking for a forward-thinking organization looking to innovate and engage.
As BusinessWeek's first community editor, helped increase reader loyalty and new audiences. Also developed unique online and offline experiences and interactions to boost engagement and loyalty to the BW brand.
Prior to joining BusinessWeek in June 2008, I launched, managed and produced Cable360.net, the digital home to CableWorld, CableFAX and Communications Technology. In addition to extensive daily reporting & blogging, produced videos, podcasts, webinars and microsites and creating exclusive content, editorial and features to enhance three unique print brands in a distinctive Web portal.
I joined CableWorld from Time Inc., where I was a writer for TIME & People in New York and the Hong Kong-based travel editor/writer for TIME Asia. Before joining TIME, I was senior producer on "Living Asia," Discovery Channel Asia's first original series. While in Hong Kong, I was a multimedia producer for the National Science Center of Malaysia (in Kuala Lumpur).
In Toronto from 1989-95, I was a producer, writer and interviewer on the award-winning TVOntario series "Prisoners of Gravity," which explored the intersection of science fiction, comics, technology and pop culture for 5 seasons. This half-hour weekly show also ran on PBS in the U.S. and Channel 4 in the UK before being acquired by Discovery Channel Canada. Prior to TVO, I worked in book publishing.
My freelance work includes writing for Multichannel News, Real Simple, Money, Raygun, TIME Canada, Shift Magazine and The Globe & Mail. Taped a weekly segment on travel for CNN International while in Hong Kong. Frequent speaker/moderator on panels for MediaBistro, NATPE, WICT, the NCTA (National Cable Telecommunications Association) and others.
