“…a defined posture to strategic insight…this is the gift Shari brings to this community…consistently clear and complete…a respected leader in the staff and commands high regard from faculty…
her commitment to the school’s mission is certain.”

Reported directly to the President while playing a key role in strategic planning, program research, student development, grant writing, and enrollment management. Spearheaded institutional development initiatives, leveraging evidence-based research and performance data to provide the information to fuel strategic decisions from the Deans' and President’s offices. Secured the grant for, and directed, The Isaiah Project, a comprehensive, three-year project designed to help strengthen the economy of ministry in the ELCA by clearing some of the entrenched financial barriers to ministry at the seminary level.

■ Secured support for an enrollment consultant to provide expertise in opportunities for improvement. Managed the process from concept through proposal development, vendor interviews and selection, and project funding.

■ Captured more than $250,000 in grant funding to fuel institution wide, systemic issues associated with student debt, leveraging funds to bolster programs, increase student support, and improve student benefits.

■ Led the enrollment management team in a successful re-accreditation self-study and campus visit, creating all documentation to map processes for the enrollment team, emerging from the process with zero notations.

Director of Admissions

Trinity Lutheran Seminary

Religious Institutions industry

20062012 (6 years)

Directed student recruitment initiatives during a difficult time in the industry, focusing not only on cultivating student outreach, but also on managing the Student Services team. Coordinated efforts of the social media working group, serving also as a key communication and public relations resource with students, alumni, and other internal and external stakeholders.

■ Drove continuous performance and process improvement by (1) developing a new student recruitment process to address shifts in the market and a new customer service delivery model, and (2) reorganizing the department to create a more effective team, stronger infrastructure, and more robust student support network.

■ Acted in a key liaison role, serving as a central resource for students throughout their academic journeys, and working collaboratively with Student Services, Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, and other departments.

■ Created a new applicant background check policy which expedited admissions decisions by 2+ months while still providing the protection, information, and risk mitigation desired by the institution.

■ Improved employee morale and supported retention during a time of significant institutional anxiety, through development of a PTO proposal; one-year plan has since been adopted for a second year in 2012.

Pastor

Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church & Gloria Dei Lutheran Church

19962006 (10 years) Louisville, Ohio, 2003-2006 | Cleveland, Ohio, 1996-2002

"I cannot express how profoundly sad I am to lose your presence as a part of the Healthy Congregations Resource Team. You have provided careful articulation, deliberate thinking, and the much-needed humor in situations which are often deadly serious. Your move to Columbus will leave a hole on the team that will certainly be difficult to fill…”

Provided vision and pastoral leadership to congregations, steering the strategic direction of the organizations, managing through periods of change, and ensuring fiscally sound operating infrastructures. Supervised staff and up to 30 volunteers, developing and facilitating training and education opportunities for the entire congregation. Served as a board member of an agency serving at-risk youth and member of the judicatory’s conflict resolution team.

■ Cultivated relationships, built rapport, opened dialogues, and led community outreach initiatives, working with area organizations to serve at-risk youth and contribute to the welfare of citizens.

■ Increased volunteer involvement and retention to a level nearly twice the national average, through development of a leadership inventory and training program.
