Engineer in Training, MTO
Toronto, Canada Area
I began working for a design-build foundations engienering firm when I finished my engineering degree. Although the site work was interesting and I learned a lot about construction, it was not very fullfilling work.
In May I switched jobs and moved to the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) into their Engineer-In-Training (EIT) program. At MTO I've had the opportunity to be involved with many different offices already and I am only in my first rotation (As an EIT we move around to different departments while we are trying to acquire our profesional license).
I also decided this fall to go back to school part-time and pursue a Masters of Engineering (M.Eng). My focus is in tranportation. As part of my M.Eng my goal is to complete the ELITE (Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Innovation and Technology for Engineers) designation.
This fall I also decided to start a blog on sustainable development and transportation (www.sashaonthestreet.com). It is an avenue for me to continue to build my writing and communication skills. And it also forces me to stay current with the transportation news.
In winters I also work at Alpine Ski Club where I coach and instruct. This year I am moving into a different role and will be responsible for the Nancy Greene Program, a ski program for children ages 4 to 10.
