I am a VP in Global Technology at Bank of America (formerly Merrill Lynch) in downtown Manhattan. My primary role is to lead up the "EFS Packaging and Operations" efforts within Architecture and Engineering.
For the last 15+ years, I have been working with several companies solving various business problems with high-technology solutions resulting in a multi-faceted success rate using a hybrid mix of proprietary and Open Source solutions.
Over the last 10 years, my work has focused almost entirely on Open Source and Linux solutions.
I am a technically-sophisticated, business-savvy management-level professional, software architect and developer with strong leadership qualities and over 15 years of experience in the industry.
I am known for my expertise in the mobile and embedded environment, and come with over a decade of Open Source leadership skills as well as building and sustaining communities. I have a deep understanding of problems and solutions involved in producing secure, scalable, future-resistant, solutions. I have a team-based management style and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
My background includes Linux, UNIX, Microsoft, embedded systems, and handheld technologies, recently focused on the Palm platform. I am very active in many Open Source communities and within projects that allow me to utilize my skills in these areas.
I am very active in the Free Software community in many projects that allow me to sharpen my skills in these and other areas. This includes development and deployment of applications, portals, and userland tools that are used to help leverage and promote these technologies. My skills range from mobile and handheld to high-end clusters and server environments.

This role finds me building, installing and maintaining thousands of Open Source and vendor packages into an intelligently-managed, enterprise-wide file system (EFS) used for global deployment of software and similar solutions. There's always a new challenge to face every day.

I started gnu-designs, inc. from the ground up as a web-design and hosting company in 1994. The initial charter was to provide gratis hosting and development resources to Open Source sofware developers who did not have a way to promote their projects on their own. It ballooned into a global service that now provides design, consulting, management and hosting for commercial clients as well as gratis hosting for the Open Source community.
We strive to better the Internet experience through clean, functional, usable designs. Every site deployed is assembled from the best solutions possible and is built using, clean, validated, future-proof standards to reach the broadest audience possible.
