Michael Bauer’s Summary
I'm developing opportunities for Local 2.0 products and services. My background in local (and directory and search services) goes back a ways. My first Internet company built the first version of MapQuest, worked on GNN (Global Network Navigator), and developed an early Internet Business Directory (internet.org). Aside from a stint as VP of Open Source at Jabber and a consultant to Joltid (predecessor of Skype), my focus recently has been all Local. I led the design of Local Matters Destination Search product, managed aspects of the Area Guides local search service and oversaw the creation of the local user-generated content site, Local Guides. Currently consulting and developing new Local products.
