Sebastian Lindstrom's Summary
Traveler, NGO founder and filmmaker Sebastian Lindstrom has traversed 65 countries in the past three years, trekking deep within the jungles of Papua New Guinea, crossing Africa by bus and train, and crossed Central Asia, North Africa and the Middle East tracking the rise of the camel milk industry. Double TEDx speaker at NHH in Norway on Camel Milk entrepreneurship and at TEDxAthens on Disruptive filmmaking. Sebastian has studied in Hong Kong, Seoul and Singapore.
Being a filmmaker is one layer of a powerful connection and network-based movement underlying the provocatively named the What Took You So Long?, which Sebastian co-founded in 2008. Guerilla filmmaking is about looking for untold stories in remote areas ; small equipment gives you this access. Use your feet. You are only as good as your last movie. The filmmaking field is wide open ; anyone can get access to some film equipment and start exploring how to tell compelling stories. Guerilla filmmaking is about going in without an agenda, integrating with the locals, using the smallest amount of gear to do the work you need to do. Quality is critical. No lights no boom no massive cameras.
New technology is enabling a new generation to participate. There's no need for a director or producer on a shoot today, they can work remote and roles can be combined.
Never stop moving.
Sebastian has also co-founded the NGO Light for Children in Ghana with Ghanaians Mike Owusu and Yaw Ochere, and the Sandbox-Network in Nairobi. He has been sharing findings associated with his projects at The Royal Geographical Society, on Swedish television, with Muhammad Yunus, radio's and at top universities around the world.
