Pacific Media Post had 3 linear online edit bays. I was an online editor, which involved running the CMX 3600, A82 and Grass Valley switchers, A53, Kaliedoscope, Chyron and TypeDeko.

Supervised AV department. We produced a variety of weekly and monthly TV and radio shows, as well as weekly tape mailings.
We had a 4 camera remote truck, 2 video edit bays (1 BetacamSP, 1 3/4"), and 2 Pro-Tools rooms (actually in those days, Sound Designer II rooms).

I was responsible for cleaning and splicing film, and loading telecine and mag film machines, QUAD and 1" type C VTR's. I also did some light computer programming, writing a utility for calculating the video field to film frame relationships, to ensure clean editing for transfers.
I assisted and was being trained as a film colorist and compositor by Price Pethel.
We worked on national commercial spots, as well as the then current version of "The Twilight Zone"

This is where I cut my teeth in the TV business. I learned tape operations, basic editing, and I learned to run the Telemation Compositor character generator, including building custom font libraries from 'letraset' templates. Fun! Also wasted a lot of my earnings playing Asteroids!

Went for a year 1980-1981, another 2 years and a summer session 1986-1988. Was just a few courses shy of BSEE degree. Left to get into TV.
