I'm new to Hollywood. However, I have invested my own money in a few film & TV projects, including being the sole funding source for a theatrically-released feature documentary film. Prior to this, I built and sold a few high-tech companies.

In addition to investing on my own account, I also help independent filmmakers raise capital through my private investor partners and personal colleagues.

Sorry, I don't "broker" funding requests, so please don't ask me to do so. I only get involved if I can add some real value, such as packaging a project, engaging key personnel, and sharing considerable start-up business experience.

I don't provide "matching funds", unless you already have cash in escrow and are seeking syndication. Nor do I work with projects that rely upon tax incentives and/or structured debt to raise production capital.

While I don't maintain a strict "no broker" policy, I do expect to PRIMARILY deal with …

(a) investors who have real cash available for making movies, and
(b) filmmakers who have already made successful movies.

Unless multiple actors are under firm contract, which is highly unlikely, talent attachments do very little to increase the bankability of a film project.

So… what do I do? Essentially, I take "almost bankable" projects and turn them into "fully funded deals!" By "fully funded deal", I don't simply mean 100% of production capital. I include the full P&A budget, plus any and all amounts necessary for seeking alternative distribution, road-showing the project at festivals, etc.

If I don't raise money, I don't make money. Having said that, I expect a reasonable degree of exclusivity. Clearly, I have to be a big believer in the project to bet 100% of my compensation on the success of funding it.
