Front-End Designer/Developer at Bernstein-Rein
Kansas City, Missouri Area
I create things with Photoshop. I build things with Textmate. I learn & share things on Twitter.
I design and build things on the Internet. I have a particular interest in user experience design and architecture. I have five years of experience in working with brands big and small. Most days you can find me re-thinking an idea or interface, designing a layout or producing front-end interfaces by hand.
More specifically, I take part in conceptual thinking, layout design and the production of XHTML and CSS by hand. In 2008, I participated in the redesigns of Carando.com, CraveCupcakes.com and ClaytonHomes.com as the lead front-end developer at [BR]. Each of these projects involved more than 100 hours of development, cross-browser testing and creative collaboration. During the year, I also took part in a usability audit for Blockbuster.com.
Aside from all else, I embrace front-end standards, semantic markup and mod rewrites. When making time for freelance work, I keep my code skills sharp in writing object-oriented php and SQL.

I received my undergraduate degree in a program that featured the harmonies of traditional Art and Mass Communication alongside a core emphasis in Computer Science.
I used most all of my senior elective hours in taking 400- and 500-level courses that provided further training in computer programming and advertising. I have always been motivated by building and designing things for large audiences; this program was perfect for launching my career.
