I began my professional career at age 14 doing Y2K conversions in Fox Pro 2.6 for local companies in the Akron, Ohio area. When I couldn't get a ride from my parents, clients would literally send a driver to pick me up from school. I would joke that it was always better than working at the local pizza parlor.
After graduating from high school, I decided to attend Grove City College as a Computer Information Systems major. I also spent the summers working with Andersen New Venture Services a practice targeted at helping emerging enterprises leverage the talent that a top-tier consulting company could bring. It was a small group and this allowed me to grow in ways most interns never could based on my experiences.
After graduation, I decided to attend Carnegie Mellon University as a research fellow at the Sloan Software Industry Center. My research focused on methodologies & processes that could aide in increasing productivity of software developers. In addition to my research, I was a regular columnist at Information Week Magazine and did some very interesting consulting with a firm I co-founded Catalytix.
For the past 4 years, I have worked in Business Development at Peak Strategy. A firm focused on commercializing modular replacement a disruptive innovation in the field of statistical learning and artificial intelligence. A year ago, I was promoted to Vice President of Business Development. At the same time, we re-focused the company's target market to online media and re-launched the company as mSpoke.
At mSpoke, I have the privilege of working with some of the smartest people I have ever met. I'm very excited to see what the future holds for our unique technology.
