Stephen Dukes's Summary
For over 18 years, I have dedicated my career to the initiating, design, planning, development, testing, and rollout of IT projects. I have had the opportunity to be a part of teams on the development as well as the business side of hardware and software efforts from conception to deployment. I began my IT work as a software developer while attending the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where I obtained a degree in Professional and Technical Writing. I began developing by applying my writing, coding and graphic arts skills to the creation of web applications for the University and small Arkansas companies. This led to work with the National Information Consortium (NIC), gathering requirements from state agencies and working closely with these agencies to build web and data applications that provided services for the people of the state.
I left NIC to accept a position as Director of Development with Infinity Solutions, a dot com startup, where I led a small development team in the design and development of revenue generating web portals as well as promotional multimedia packages. From there I successfully applied for a contract position with FedEx Retail which led to permenant employment with FedEx.
At FedEx I had the opportunity to broaden my Project Management skills in leadership roles on many high profile and complex FedEx systems, the most notable of which as Project Manager for FedEx PowerPad, a $180MM cross divisional project to design, build, and implement a replacement for the courier scanning, dispatch, and signature capture systems combining all these systems into one easy to use handheld device that utilized the latest wireless and scanning technologies. My performance on this project let to a position as Manager of Global Support Applications supporting FedEx’s global customs and clearance systems.
I'm currently the Partner and Chief Architect for Mellon Consulting Group, LLC.
