Initially, my career was focused on multimedia. This includes recording, mastering, and mixing audio. Being in a handful of bands helped, as I was able to work on albums for them. Video was also part of my daily work, as I became adept at videography, editing, compressing, and post-processing. During that time, I learned the basics of graphic design, and worked with a number of excellent designers to create complex multimedia presentations. I have become adept with many different forms of multimedia delivery, including streaming from the Internet and delivery on DVD, audio CD, or media playable directly on a computer.
Next, my focus turned towards Windows development. I started with Visual Basic, moving quickly to C++. My first major project was a wrapper object which would allow you to design and include a resizable skin for the interface of your app.
Toward the end of 2002, I picked up Linux, a step up from the weaknesses and vulnerabilities that plague Windows. Since 2004, my employment has revolved around my Linux system administration expertise.
Also at the end of 2002, I began learning PHP. Soon I found myself a Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP developer. Having been trained formally in programming and development at Utah Valley State College (now Utah Valley University), mastering PHP has come easily.
Currently, I am employed as a LAMP developer with a company that provides leads and search engine optimization for its clients, mainly in the area of continuing education.
I have also started 2 companies: Morris Partners, LLC where I have one other partner. This company has done project management, consultation, web development, establishment of online communities, search engine optimization, and lead generation for clients. Also, Tribal Paradigm, LLC, of which I am the sole owner. Setting up these companies, establishing a business plan, long-term goals, and a systematic method of execution of the plan have all been great experiences and have taught me well.
