Scott Kauffman's Summary

Scott Kauffman is the Presiding Director of MDC Partners (NASDAQ:MDCA), an advertising agency and marketing services holding company, as well as the Chairman of several venture-backed Internet companies. Prior to focusing on board work, Scott spent 30 years in corporate executive and board leadership positions with both public and private companies. He is a widely recognized industry leader in the fields of Internet media, consumer marketing and digital entertainment.

Most recently, Scott was the Co-Founder, President & CEO of New Engineering University, an education services company. In 1997, Kleiner Perkins recruited Scott to Silicon Valley to become President & CEO of AdKnowledge, which he filed to take public before negotiating its sale to CMGI in 1999.

Prior to AdKnowledge, Scott was Vice President & General Manager of online services for CompuServe, and a presenting member on the road show for one of the Internet industry’s first successful IPOs, led by Goldman Sachs.

Before CompuServe, Scott spent seven years at Time Warner as a member of the founding team of Entertainment Weekly magazine and then as VP Business Development for Time Warner Interactive.

Prior to Time Warner, Scott spent five years at Newsweek as a publisher and GM of Newsweek’s Education Division. Earlier in his career he was a Marketing Manager, a Brand Manager and a Media Planner.
